about

Dave presents us his Doombient album on Doomcore Records.
What is "Doombient" you might ask?
Hardcore and Gabber is defined by the use of hard beats, distorted sounds, noisy percussion and so on.
Genres like Doomcore add haunting synths, mystic ambience, enchanting melodies, terrifying sounds to these hard beats.
Now, the idea behind this Doombient release is to subtract the hard beat, and most everything else that defines "Hardcore" again.
And we are left with pure doom sounds.
Just strange choirs, twisted saw pads, horror drones, pulsating bass-lines, and sparsely used vocals or FX.
The intent is to create a bittersweet sentiment, irrationally drifting between cold ecstasy and petrifying horror (or it is both at the same time).
This release has a very (movie / video-game / TV) soundtrack-like feel, in our opinion.

While these tracks undoubtly border on related genres like dark ambient, synthwave, or even chiptune, we think they definitely have a distinctive sound, based on their Doomcore roots.

Completely beatless release!

So, this is something very different for Doomcore Records this time, but we sincerely hope you enjoy it nevertheless.

Later, the sub-labels Slowcore Records - for very low tempo Hardcore and Techno - and Omnicore Records - for all styles of music - were created. ... more
